This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers ? Chicago District to inform interested vendors of the district?s intent to issue a solicitation for Lake George East Phase II Dredging, East Chicago, Lake County, Illinois. PROJECT INFORMATION: The Lake George East Phase II Dredging project includes removal of contaminated sediments in the Lake George Canal (LGC) section of the Indiana Harbor Canal (IHC) via mechanical dredging with appropriate environmental monitoring and controls to improve sediment quality, water quality, and habitat within the LGC. Sediment within the LGC contains elevated concentrations of metals, volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) due to legacy contamination from adjacent and upstream sources. Dredged material will be hydraulically placed into the IHC confined disposal facility (CDF) adjacent to the LGC. The project may include sediment sampling at the dredged surface to determine if further remediation is required to achieve project remediation goals. Further remediation, if needed, will be performed under a separate project. ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is RESTRICTED to SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS. The North American Industry System Classification Code is 237990, with a small business size standard in dollars of $37 Million. The magnitude of cost for construction is estimated between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. The requirement is for 545 calendar days: one (1) year and six (6) months.
