What this contract is for
NAVSUP Fleet Logistics San Diego (FLCSD) intents to negotiate and award a commercial sole source contract to Hawthorne Cat, 16945 Camino San Bernardo, San Diego, CA in accordance with RFO Part 6.103 and Part 13.5. Ship’s Force (S/F) discovered degraded exhaust shielding on the Ship Service Diesel Generator (SSDG) exhaust manifolds. The required heat shields are not available in the standard stock system. The current shielding has degraded heat resistance capabilities and entrained oil, which constitutes a significant fire hazard. With exhaust temperatures reaching approximately 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the current condition poses a high-risk of burn injuries to personnel and secondary damage to equipment. The Government has a need to procure exahaust shielding for five (5) Ship Service Diesel Generators (SSDGs) which are Caterpillar Hawthorne specific per the following: Cat Hawthorne 263-9521 Shield AS-EX 5 EA Cat Hawthorne 257-7703 Exhaust Manifold Shield 5 EA Cat Hawthorne 138-3331 1.2mm Diameter Tire Wire 150 EA Cat Hawthorne 132-8300 Insulation ‘Shield A’ 5 EA The proposed contract action is for a Sole Source Firm-Fixed-Price contract under RFO Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This notice of intent is neither a formal solicitation nor a request for competitive proposals. Solicitation or Request for Quote will not be available, and telephone requests will not be honored. No award will be made on the basis of unsolicited quotations or offers received in response to this notice. Any response to this notice must show clear, compelling and convincing evidence that competition will be advantageous to the Government.
