Scope

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is conducting market research through this Request for Information (RFI) to gather input from industry on commercially available solutions to search biological sequences, such as DNA, RNA, proteins, peptides, antibodies, probes, primers, fragments, variants, and fusion constructs, as well as prior art searches, claimed in patent applications.

The USPTO seeks innovative solutions to implement the next-generation biological sequence search system utilizing Super Intelligence (SI)-assisted capabilities to increase the efficiency and quality of biological searches during patent examinations.

The USPTO is interested in solutions that meet the objectives outlined in the attached draft Statement of Objectives (SOO).

The Government preference is to obtain a turnkey commercial solution with minor tailoring, if applicable.

How to bid on this

This is a contract solicitation, not a grant. To bid, you submit a proposal (usually a price and a description of how you would do the work) directly to the government, through the channel the official listing specifies, not through Oppward.

  1. Make sure your business has an active SAM.gov registration. You cannot be paid on a federal contract without one.
  2. Read the full solicitation on the official listing above, especially the scope of work, not just this summary. Our guide to reading a solicitation walks through what to look for.
  3. Check the set-aside listed above and confirm your business actually qualifies for it before you spend time on a proposal. See our guide to set-asides if the category is unfamiliar.
  4. Submit your proposal by the deadline, using the exact submission method the official listing states. A technically on-time bid sent the wrong way is often treated as late.
