Scope

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.

Description The U.S.

Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Research Station, Pacific Northwest Forestry Sciences Laboratory (Corvallis, OR), requires the procurement and delivery of 523 brand-new, small autonomous bio-acoustic recorders.

This purchase directly supports mission-critical passive acoustic monitoring work under the Northwest Forest Plan Effectiveness Monitoring Program.

CRITICAL CRITERIA FOR FIELD OPERATIONS: Because field personnel must manually pack and carry large volumes of these recorders on foot through remote backcountry, steep slopes, and exceptionally rough wilderness terrain, minimizing physical burden is critical.

Achieving the smallest possible exterior footprint and the absolute lightest weight profile is a vital operational necessity for safety, multi-day hiking range, and field deployment efficiency.

Due to the remote locations and the need to make as few trips as possible for efficiency and safety, it is also vital this recorder is equipped with a long battery life.

All units delivered under this contract must be fully operational, turnkey, and ready for immediate field deployment.

Equivalent products matching these baseline performance parameters will be fully considered.

How to bid on this

This is a contract solicitation, not a grant. To bid, you submit a proposal (usually a price and a description of how you would do the work) directly to the government, through the channel the official listing specifies, not through Oppward.

  1. Make sure your business has an active SAM.gov registration. You cannot be paid on a federal contract without one.
  2. Read the full solicitation on the official listing above, especially the scope of work, not just this summary. Our guide to reading a solicitation walks through what to look for.
  3. Check the set-aside listed above and confirm your business actually qualifies for it before you spend time on a proposal. See our guide to set-asides if the category is unfamiliar.
  4. Submit your proposal by the deadline, using the exact submission method the official listing states. A technically on-time bid sent the wrong way is often treated as late.
