Summary of the Requirement Scope DHS S&T Requirements, Engineering & Acquisition (REA) requires membership to Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) an international standards organization that develops open standards for geospatial data, services, and interoperability.

Office of Requirements, Engineering & Acquisition (REA) and Mission Engineering & Standards Division (MES) received requests from individuals in the Technology Center to participate in OGC.

Membership in this group provides support to and participation in the development of standards that are required by Department of Homeland Security components.

OGC is a standard development organization focused on geospatial and location-based information that are critical information requirements for Homeland Security and Emergency Management missions.

DHS also needs to vote in critical Geospatial Standards so that its mission needs can be covered.

OGC standards support interoperability by making maps, imagery, features, metadata, and services compatible without needing custom integrations.
