What this contract is for

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Strategic Acquisition Center - Frederick, intends to negotiate and award a sole source, Firm-Fixed-Price contract to HurtVet, Inc., a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), for fire alarm and security system inspection, testing, preventive maintenance, emergency response and repair, and 24/7 central station monitoring services in support of the VA Quantico Information Technology Center (QITC), Buildings 5101 and 5107, Russell Road, Quantico, Virginia. The resulting contract will include a base period of twelve (12) months, with four (4) twelve-month option periods, for a total potential period of performance not to exceed five (5) years. This action is contemplated under the authority of 38 U.S.C. § 8127 and VAAR 819.7008, which authorizes VA contracting officers to restrict competition to, or set aside an acquisition for, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, and to make sole source awards to SDVOSBs when the applicable statutory and regulatory conditions are met. Basis for Sole Source The Government intends to award to HurtVet, Inc. on a sole source basis after determining that this SDVOSB is a responsible source capable of performing the requirement, and that award to this firm is appropriate under the authorities cited above. Notice to Interested Parties This notice is not a request for competitive quotes.

How to bid on this

This is a contract solicitation, not a grant. To bid, you submit a proposal (usually a price and a description of how you would do the work) directly to the government, through the channel the official listing specifies, not through Oppward.

  1. Make sure your business has an active SAM.gov registration. You cannot be paid on a federal contract without one.
  2. Read the full solicitation on the official listing above, especially the scope of work, not just this summary. Our guide to reading a solicitation walks through what to look for.
  3. Check the set-aside listed above and confirm your business actually qualifies for it before you spend time on a proposal. See our guide to set-asides if the category is unfamiliar.
  4. Submit your proposal by the deadline, using the exact submission method the official listing states. A technically on-time bid sent the wrong way is often treated as late.
