Title: Alpha Emitting Source Set BACKGROUND ***THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE*** The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing an alpha emitting source set. If no alternate sources are identified, the Government intends to issue a Sole Source Award to Eckert & Ziegler Isotope Products (24937 Avenue Tibbitts, Valencia, CA) under the authority of FAR 12.102(a) only one reasonably found source. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516. NIST has a need for a alpha emitting source set that meets or exceeds the following draft minimum specifications: The Contractor shall deliver a quantity of 4 Am-241 anodized aluminum, large-area sources, the activities of which shall be in the ranges of; 100 Bq, 1,000 Bq, 10,000 Bq, and 100,000 Bq that meet the following minimum specifications: A set of Am-241 sources. Description and Specifications: Anodized aluminum alpha reference sources Quantity: 4 Technical Specifications Overall dimensions 219 mm x 143 mm x 6.35 mm Active dimensions 203 mm x 127 mm Activity within +30%/-30% 4 packages sturdy enough for shipping, one for each source NIST conducted market research from March through May of 2026 by attending conferences, speaking with colleagues, performing internet searches, and speaking with vendors to determine what sources could meet NIST’s minimum requirements.
